Rebirth

After a long involuntary hiatus Gomi world is finally back, and this time with the intent of actually providing content.

A few months ago, shortly after the last 'rebirth' of the blog, I decided to move the server I'm hosting it on from Glesys to a more local option. Note that I didn't move because of something Glesys did wrong, I've only got good things to say about them, I just wanted the server closer to home.. For various reasons it took almost 3 months before I got the server shipped to my office in Malmö. And that is the first reason for the long hiatus.

The second reason is that while I was waiting for the server I decided to buy some more ram for it. Unfortunately the cheapskate in me took over so I ordered the memory upgrade from a dodgy online store. The result: I waited for 2 months, never got the parts and despite the fact that they promised me that I'd get my money back, I still haven't.

I needed the server to host other things than this blog so in order to get my other projects up and running I went out and bought a new supermicro server from mullet instead. It took 2 days from the time I ordered it until the time it was up and running. In retrospect I wish I had gone down this route right away.

Anyway, I'm back and I hope this silly down time doesn't mean you've forgotten me. ;)

In order to have that feature on a WordPress blog, a plugin must be installed. This post is about my search for such a plugin and the solution I finally adopted. If you have a blog and would like to add such functionality to it, then keep reading.
